Anna McGrane

Ceramics, woodcuts, drawings

My main interest has always been nature and textures. However politics and social unrest have also influenced my work, especially when creating larger installations.

AMcG440sI commenced my life as an artist when we went to Bolivia in 1988. I found the pre-Columbian ceramics fascinating and worked with some wonderfully talented artists in Bolivia learning from their skills.

I would find it hard to choose which of the medium that I work with as a favourite. I love working with clay, but then have a huge delight in woodcuts and ink drawings. I usually balance the two and allow them to complement each other in my exhibitions. I have been delving into oils and watercolours. I like abstract paintings, which do have meaning, but are a challenge to the viewer.

I have exhibited successfully worldwide.
