Anna McGrane

Biography

Contact

I have always thrived working with clay.  Over many years I worked as a ceramic artist.   However, I enjoyed other mediums.  In my exhibitions I would complement my installation with a collection of either woodcuts or ink drawings.  Recently I am enjoying painting with oil.

I am Irish and have travelled for many years.  I have been working and exhibiting since 1988.  For 13 years I lived and exhibited in Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. During that time I won a ‘Mencion de Honor’ at the XII Bienal de Artes Plasticas.  I was also very involved in various projects helping  indigenous groups.  Mainly improving their kilns, and firing and glazing techniques.

During that time I also travelled and exhibited in Santiago de Chile, Key West, Florida and Tokoname, Japan.

In 2001 we returned to Europe and built our home and my studio in Andalucia.

Over the years my interests have changed and my ceramic work is, for the moment, on hold.  I have fallen in love with oils.  Early days yet.

I work from my studio on our land near the village of Gaucin.
