Sian Faber

Biography

Contact

A Fine Art graduate from New Zealand,Sian lived and worked in Australia for over 30 years, focusing on seascapes and fluid movement in her painting practice.

From her Gaucin studio looking down the old Bandido trails to the Mediterranean,Gibraltar, & Morocco, Sian found her European ‘voice’.

Sian’s wall sculptures of stone and glass adapt Byzantine mosaic traditions in her unique “Silica Squared” technique. Here, Sian upends thousands of hand-cut shards of stained glass into cement, creating textures of flowing movement, the constant reflection of light rippling across them like blades of sea grass.

In her Stone Series, you hang a slice of the mountain upon your wall… windows for pools of glass cut into natural stone whose unvarnished surfaces reveal their own stories of movement.

In her colourful paintings of figurative movement, flamenco dancers are drawn with the quill of a griffon vulture… capturing moments in time – movement with passion, movement with drama.

Sian’s works are held in private and corporate collections worldwide and she is currently working on collaborations with local artists and her own solo exhibition later this year in Malaga province.
